Football Skills Program 10-11 Year Olds
This stage is considered by many to be the ‘ golden age of motor learning’. Players are now striving for good performances. They can show a real dedication for continuous improvement and are very motivated to practice hard and showcase their abilities to other team-mates or teams.
In addition to the skills developed in the Football Basics Program which must be further developed, players in this age group are ready for more complex game situations.
Playing football involves understanding how the game develops in order to make good decisions.
Reading and Reacting Skills – ability to observe and analyse the location of team-mates, opponents and the ball as well as the speed and direction of play will be developed in each of the Three Basic Game Situations.
- Loose-Ball Games: The ball is loose and neither team has it. Statistics have shown that the team that wins the most loose balls usually also wins the game.
- Attacking Games: The team has the ball in possession and attacking.
- Defensive Games: The team doesn’t have the ball and is defending, preventing the opponent from scoring.
